Create a Spa-Like Feel at Home

After a long day of working, running errands, cooking, cleaning, or looking after your kids, your body needs (and deserves) to unwind and destress. Our body is sacred and we must do everything in our power to take care of it – aka relaxing and restarting. You don’t necessarily have to spend money for a day at the salon or spa – here are some tips on how to create a space to pamper yourself from the comfort of your home.

Mood is everything.

First things first, the mood has to be right. Find a way to bring the perfect lighting to your space. This can mean dimming the lights, lighting candles, opening the windows just a crack to hear the sounds of nature, or bumping your fav playlist. There is no right or wrong way to set the mood -– it’s your zen space and you make it exactly how you want.

Aromatize the space.

We already know that aromatherapy is a very real thing and the way your space smells can alter your mood and how relaxed you feel. Be sure to choose soothing scents to add to your spa and not ones that are too overwhelming. You can add scent to your space by lighting a good quality candle, putting an essential oil in an oil diffuser, or lighting incense. We love natural scents like lavender and eucalyptus.

Draw yourself a nice bath.

There’s nothing quite like coming home from a long day of running around and sitting in a nice, warm bath. Something about laying mindlessly in the water while relaxing your muscles really has the power to take stress away from a person. Make sure your water is at a good temperature – not too cold and not too hot. And sprinkle bath salts or drop a bath bomb into your bath to elevate your experience even more!

Get some skincare in.

While you’re already in self-care mode, grab a face mask of your choice and a lip scrub and apply them to your face. While you’re in your bath, those products have plenty of time to sit and work their magic. And as you’re showing your face some love, grab a body scrub and start exfoliating the rest of your skin. Doing these things simultaneously allows all the products to activate, rather than rushing to wash them off.

Take care of your hair.

As you’re taking care of your skin, don’t forget about your hair! While your face mask and lip scrub are on, grab that hair mask or scalp treatment you’ve been wanting to try out and apply a generous amount to your hair or scalp. Take as much time laying in your bath to relax and unwind and let those products sit and do their thing. When your bath is over, be sure to rinse all the products out of your hair well and continue your hair care routine as usual.

Pampering yourself is something lots of people overlook because they may not have the time or resources to head to a spa. Re-creating a spa-like space in your own bathroom can be done with these simple tips. Remember, only you know what’s best for your body to relax and you can personalize your experience as much as you’d like.
