Goodbye summer, hello fall! The leaves are falling, the sun is bright, and the air is crisp. It’s the perfect season to get outside and stay more active than ever!
Take advantage of the gorgeous fall weather while it lasts with these fall outdoor fitness activities below:
If you want to start with something easy, then a simple 15-minute walk around your neighbourhood every morning before you go to work or at night after dinner is perfect! You’ll breathe in the fresh air, and you’ll get extra movement throughout the day. The more you walk, the more you may be up to mixing in an occasional jog to help slowly improve your stamina.
There’s still plenty of time to go biking in the fall. You’ll get a full-body workout no matter where you’re biking, while enjoying the fresh breeze. A bonus to riding your bike in the fall will be seeing the transition of all the leaves changing colours and eventually start falling.
Canoeing or Kayaking
It’s perhaps not that often that you’ll get to canoe or kayak, so try it out! This low impact activity can increase muscle strength, particularly in your back, arms, shoulders, and chest – and this is just from moving the paddle! It can also reduce stress and provide some amazing fall views.
Hiking in the fall is a great outdoor fitness activity to take advantage of, especially when the leaves begin to change colours. Going up and down even in small inclines will put your core and entire lower body like your hamstring, glutes, quads, and calves to work. It’ll all be worth it when you get to enjoy an incredible scenic view at the end of your hike.
This may or may not be a fun activity, depending on the type of person you are. Regardless of that, it’s got to get it done, so might as well be positive about it! Yard work like raking leaves, pulling weeds, cleaning your gutters and more are great ways to stay active. Not only will you be improving your home, but you’ll also be constantly moving.
Don’t forget to always stay active, and not just during certain seasons. This list of fall outdoor fitness activities are just some ideas for you to try something different – give them a try!
